Matters of the Mind: Psychology and Language Learning
Thursday 29th May – Saturday 31st May, 2014
The international conference “Matters of the Mind: Psychology and Language Learning” will bring together scholars from across the globe to the beautiful, historic city of Graz, Austria’s second largest city, located in the south of the country. The city is well known for its stunning architecture and exceptional culinary delights, and we hope despite our busy schedule that you will also find time to enjoy all Graz has to offer.
The conference aims to generate new insights into the role of psychology in language learning and teaching. It will cover a wide range of topics including autonomy, beliefs, emotions, goal setting, group dynamics, motivation, the self, strategies, metacognition, willingness to communicate, individual differences, among others. A particular goal of the conference is to bring together different branches in this vibrant field and explore interconnections and potential for cooperation.
Matters of the Mind promises a unique opportunity to hear from leading international scholars, learn about the latest developments in research, and meet with researchers from around the world in a magnificent setting. In addition to a packed and challenging conference programme, a range of special events and activities offer the chance to relax while you get to know your colleagues and this beautiful, relatively undiscovered part of the world.
We hope you will join us and the outstanding line up of speakers for what promises to be an exciting and challenging conference in this dynamic field of foreign language learning and teaching.
